Blade-Free LASIK Experience
LASIK, the most popular and most widely used laser procedure for vision correction, has been perfected in millions of successful operations over the past 20 years. Now, with Z-LASIK™, a technologically advanced system is available to bring you top-quality LASIK results.
Z-LASIK is a LASIK procedure performed with the Ziemer FEMTO LDV Femtosecond Surgical Laser in conjunction with Visx Star S4 IR excimer laser. With the combined use of state of-cthe-art lasers and diagnostic equipment, Z-LASIK provides the best currently available treatment for superior vision correction.
In Z-LASIK a thin corneal flap is made with the Ziemer’s FEMTO LDV. this is unlike conventional LASIK in which a mechanical microkeratome with a steel oscillating blade is used to fashion a corneal flap. The Z-LASIK flap is much more accurate in depth, with a smoother base allowing better outcomes. No More steel blades with their incumbent complications. The all laser LASIK is now here.
The laser we use for placing the vision correction on the cornea is the STAR S4 IR Excimer Laser System. The VISX STAR platform’s heritage of dependability and performance is well known. The STAR S4 IR from VISX has taken that reputation to an even higher level. Our latest excimer laser system represents the most advanced laser technology platform available today. Integrating data collected by the WaveScan WaveFront System, the STAR S4 IR utilizes these exclusive VISX technologies to deliver precision custom ablations
Suitability
Unfortunately not everybody is suitable to benefit from laser treatment. Suitable candidates must be 21 years or over with healthy eyes and a stable prescription within the treatable range ( -1.00 to-10.00 for myopes And +1.00 to +5.00 for Hyperopes). As well as establishing suitability LaserSight Consultants conduct a thorough eye examination to establish the precise nature of your refractive error, fully brief you regarding treatment and answer your queries.
Treatment
LASIK should take less than 20 minutes with the actual application of laser taking typically less than a minute, depending on your prescription.
LASIK is completely painless as the eye is anaesthetised using drops, however, minimal discomfort or grittiness will be experienced after treatment. This will not last long and can be minimised by resting both eyes and taking the prescribed medication.
We suggest a friend or relative be available to accompany you home. Vision should be significantly better the next day. We also suggest that you take 2 days off work and refrain from driving for the same period.
